Niche Sensei – Simple Yet Effective
I recently purchased Nice Sensei. The cost is less than 10 dollars and it has quickly become my most useful tool in my Internet Marketing arsenal. It compares with Market Samurai. However Niche Sensei does not really compete with Market Samurai.
Niche Sensei is Better than Market Samarai?
Niche Sensei is not necessarily better than Market Samurai as the latter actually provides a lot more information than Niche Sensei. You can almost think of Niche Sensei as a scaled down version of Market Samurai that gives me the most important information in a much quicker time frame.
Niche Sensei is Fast
The nice thing about Niche Sensei is that I can get keywords related to my initial keyword fast! The default is to return 15 keywords but you have the ability to change the number of items returned. There is also a competition analysis component that runs a but slower but still outperforms Market Samurai in speed. Please keep in mind, Niche Sensei has less data to compute.
Keyword Research with Niche Sensei
The keyword research is merely data you get back from the Google Keyword tool with the addition of SEO Competition. As you can see from the first illustration, it is laid out in a nice compact format. Additionally, you get the SEO competition. The SEO competition is the number of competing pages you would receive back from a Google search using the keyword.
So by skimming down the global (or local) searches each month and looking at the SEO competition, you can get a fairly good idea of whether a keyword would be easy to rank for with a little work.
Competition Analysis
The strong component of Niche Sensei is the results you get back from the competition analysis tab. For those familiar
with Market Samurai, Niche Sensei uses a similar Red, Yellow and Green coding system to indicate strength of competition.
The more green areas you have the more likely you will be able to successfully compete with other web sites.
For me the two most important indicators are the Page Rank and the Index Count. From these I can see the strength of competition for the keyword. The page links are important as well but don’t always indicate direct competition. Sites like Amazon.com have lost of Domain links but that does not mean they compete well with a particular niche
Niche Sensei gets these competition results back relatively fast. It is a bit slower than the keyword research but it is still faster than the competition. Again, the data breadth may not be as robust as the competition but I tend to look at the Niche Sensei indicators most of the time anyway.
The results for the Niche Sensei competition analysis will show:
- The Google Page Rank for that particular URL
- The number of site pages indexed in Google
- The number of backlinks for that page
- The number of backlinks for the domain
The color codes indicate:
Red – A lot of good competition that will make it hard for you to rank
Yellow – Doable but there will be a good amount of work to surpass these sites
Green – Maybe not easy but by far the easiest to rank ahead of
Its important to look at all the results as well as individual results. Google likes to dance the sites around so just because a page rank 0 is setting at number three position today does not mean they will be the one to beat tomorrow.
Niche Sensei is Highly Recommended by Me!
I recommend Niche Sensei for both those just starting out with keyword research as well as those that already have Market Samurai and other keyword research tools. Niche Sensei is an excellent compliment to those other tools. For newbies it’s a great way to get started with an inexpensive keyword research tool. As an aside, I am not getting an compensation for this recommendation. I am most interested in letting fellow marketers know about the tool.
The last I checked you could purchase Niche Sensei for about 17 dollars and compared to Market Samarai, its a steal.
